HELPING IN THE COMMUNITY
Real stories of Tampa Bay families receiving hope and healing through Westchase Charitable Foundation

Lincoln's Story: Breathing New Life Into Hope
Through our Tampa Bay Woman of the Year fundraising efforts, WCF was able to provide Lincoln’s family with two critical items: a motorized wheelchair to give him mobility and independence, and a built-in permanent generator to ensure his life-support equipment continues working during Florida’s storm season.
These aren’t just medical devices – they’re lifelines that allow Lincoln to be a kid, to play, and to live with dignity while his family focuses on what matters most: being together.
“We have been fortunate enough to help Lincoln… Through a few financial grants, we have helped the family purchase both a motorized wheelchair for their son and a much-needed built-in permanent generator.”
From Recipient to Champion: Melea's Journey
That’s when the Westchase Charitable Foundation stepped in, helping to fund the expensive corrective device that would change her son’s life forever. The device didn’t just restore his hearing – it restored his confidence, his ability to learn, and his future possibilities.
Years later, Melea became a candidate for Tampa Bay Woman of the Year, working tirelessly to raise funds for other families facing similar crises. Her story shows the true spirit of our foundation: families helping families, creating a circle of support that lifts up our entire community.
“One candidate has a particular commitment to the Foundation’s cause – Melea Blaskovich’s son was diagnosed with a serious auditory disorder in 1st grade, and the Foundation helped fund the expensive corrective device.”
Supporting Families Through Cancer Battles
“The foundation also had the honor of presenting a check to The Solomon Family and The Scala Family. Both families have a child battling Leukemia. More and more families are reaching out to the foundation for help with absolutely heartbreaking stories.”
The Solomon Family
When their child was diagnosed with leukemia, the Solomon family faced not only the emotional devastation of a cancer diagnosis but also the mounting financial pressures of treatment, travel, and time away from work.
WCF was honored to present them with a check to help cover medical expenses and daily living costs, allowing them to focus on what matters most – their child’s healing and recovery.
Support during the most challenging chapter of their lives
The Scala Family
Like the Solomon family, the Scala family found themselves navigating the complex world of pediatric cancer treatment, with all the logistical and financial challenges that come with regular chemotherapy treatments.
Our foundation was able to provide financial assistance to help them maintain stability at home while managing the demands of their child’s treatment schedule and recovery process.
